I don’t think any person is able to give a completely accurate picture of who he or she is. Every time you look in a mirror, you’re looking at the exact opposite of what you really are. Our mental image of ourselves is tinted with what we wish we were—or were not. Hopes for the future and regrets from the past are the lens filters through which introspection is viewed. How can one define something that is continuously changing?
What I’m trying to say is this: I can’t give you a completely accurate description of who I really am. However, I can attempt to give you an idea.
I am an artist. Drawing and photography are the two most common ways I express this. I adore photography; capturing beauty in life is something I take great joy in doing. Drawing is my first love, though. I have been drawing ever since I can remember. It is my release; my escape; my meditation. I am proud to be an artist. It is a gift greatly treasured.
I am a Christ-follower. I firmly believe that there is a Trinity who created and rules the universe. I believe that God is love. I believe that through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, all have the opportunity to experience perfect love and forgiveness. I believe in heaven and I believe in hell. I can accept unanswered questions about life because I trust that God is good, and he knows what he’s doing.
I am a student. Learning is one of my favorite hobbies. I am enrolled at a small but prestigious university in which I am pursuing a degree in Fine Arts. I was home-schooled from 5th grade through high school. Before that, I attended a small Christian school. Knowledge and wisdom are both highly-regarded values in my life.
I enjoy playing soccer, mountain biking, skiing, lying in the sunshine, playing with fire, music, drinking coffee, exploring, laughing, dreaming, star gazing, yoga, making my own jewelry, long conversations, sunrises, hot showers, being outside, thunderstorms, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, reading, and many, many other things.
I dislike cold wind, wearing socks, making phone calls, blue ink pens, pop (soda), caterpillars, staying up late, ignorance, country music (with few exceptions), crowds, falling, baseball, hairdryers, and various other things.
I adore my family. My mom is the most supportive, encouraging person in my life who loves me so much that it literally hurts at times. My dad has been one of my greatest teachers; guiding and challenging me throughout the years to discover my potential and reach my goals. My sister is without a doubt my closest friend. She and I have shared countless adventures and secrets. I would be nothing without my family.
I live to love.
